Picture day

Today Adam and I are having our engagement photos taken. I am really excited. I hired the photographer who shot my sister's wedding and who I already know that I like. I hope I am confident enough to tell her exactly what style I want. Mostly I will let her do her thing, but I know for sure that I want simple, natural portraits, and not overly cheesy shots or gratuitous ring close-ups.

Iconatomy

Iconatomy is a project by George Chamoun, a 26 year old Swedish jewelry designer who has basically blown my mind to smithereens.

These are collages.

I wonder if this project counts as a lazy DIY if you work on it while you dangle your legs in a pool and sip a margarita with the other hand.

If not, maybe I can get my friend (the summer camp art instructor) to get her students to do it for me, while I dangle my legs in a pool and sip a margarita with both hands.

Two pretty wreaths

I just adore these wreath prints from Etsy seller Karolin Schnoor.

Wouldn't they look lovely hung as a set?

I'm imagining them in our bedroom, which is all blue and could use a hit of citrus for spring.

Talent

This staggeringly beautiful pear-shaped diamond sculpture is made out of salvaged wood. 

Says the artist Ron van der Ende's website: "The original color and texture of the wood is utilized to form a gripping and sometimes photorealistic mosaic."
 
Um, yeah. In-freaking-credible.

SweaterLodge

Today we went to the Museum of Vancouver to see SweaterLodge, an architectural installation in which a giant polar fleece sweater is suspended from the ceiling of the gallery to create a tent-like structure (1/3 of #27 - done!).

The fleece is made out of recycled pop bottles (!) and is 26.5 meters (87 feet) cuff to cuff (!!). In other words, it's friggen huge. Check out Adam - who is 6'5" - strolling around underneath the beast:

 
The MOV website says: "The installation is a portrait of Vancouver where the veneration of nature and the construction of urban culture stand at curious odds."

If you're in town, I'd say spend the $12 and go check it out.
