Wear flowers

A few days ago we met with our wedding florist to discuss what kind of arrangements we will have in the church, bouquets and centrepieces. Today I'm thinking I should scrap every bloom we ordered and just wear a few pale pink flowers in long, loose hair.

Happy Weekend

It's pouring with rain in Vancouver and I absolutely love it. There's no feeling more cozy than listening the rain coming down in buckets while snuggled inside under a blanket. Now, to just work up the courage to go to outdoor bootcamp tonight (Yikes).

Speaking of which, I had a really upsetting nightmare last night about our wedding. Don't want to go into it because it was insane. Anyone else have scary dreams about their weddings? I think I'm just overwhelmed.

101 in 1001 - Update!

With all that's going on in the next few months with work, freelance work, wedding planning, Christmas etc etc etc, I decided to break down my 101 in 1001 list to five short tasks that I want to get done in 2012. Then, after the wedding, I'll get back to tackling the rest.

So here are my goals for the next two months:

18. Make boeuf bourgingnon from scratch
44. Try a Barre method class - found a free one!
55. Go snowshoeing with Adam 
59. Find a favorite poem and frame it  - poem found!
88. Write three letters complimenting excellent service - (1/3 done!)

If I get these three done, I'll have completed 17 items on my list and started another 20 or so. Well on track to complete!

I just beat my 3k (1.89 miles) time by ten minutes. Last time I ran my 3k route it took me half an hour. Today it took me twenty minutes.

I AM INVINCIBLE!!!!!

I realize my time and distance may sound pitiful to any of you runners out there, but this is a HUGE improvement for me.

I am going run a 5k in thirty minutes by the end of this year dammit!

I might be the only person in Vancouver who doesn't drink coffee, eat sushi or ski/snowboard, but even I could find a use for this brilliant umbrella cupholder.

I don't mind the rain. (You know what they say, "there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.") There is something really romantic about going for a stroll with your sweetheart in autumn showers, snuggling under one umbrella. And with this new invention? We could even hold hands.

I read the other day that most jobs are creative, if you are creative, and I've been thinking about that a lot lately.

I love this mural. Why paint a boring old wall when you can style it up with this beautiful typography? Looking for more ways to be creative today.

The theme is "wedding"

People keep asking me, "what's your wedding theme?" and "what are your wedding colors?" and I say "the theme is wedding" and "all the colors". 

I love (love love!) when people are so into a book or a country that they plan a wedding around it. It's awesome. It makes for a unique party, and the photos are cool, and I love seeing them on the blogs. 

But Adam and I aren't really obsessed with anything like that. He likes squash and football, I like Pinterest and crossword puzzles. We like going to pubs and drinking beer. We like dancing. We both subscribe to the motto of less stuff more life.

So our wedding will be wedding theme. We're having it at a pub with locally brewed beer and a dance floor. And the groomsmen are wearing suits they own, at least one bridesmaid is wearing a two-year-old dress, and I'm wearing shoes I bought for my sister's wedding last year. 

Nothing will match, and maybe it will look like crap, but I doubt it. I think it will look like us. And I love us enough to bet half my stuff that we'll be together forever.

I am suddenly very excited for my wedding. Unabashedly excited! And heads up pre-engaged girls: SO MANY of our guests are THRILLED that we are getting married in the wintertime. We're not the first in our group to get married, but we are the first to have a non-summer wedding, so people are stoked for something different.

Life is still hectic. I'm sure lots of freelancers will agree: success begets success, and you can never turn down a new client because you never know when the well will dry up. 

I'm oh so tired, but the wedding is three months away, and I am going to enjoy these crazy few months of anticipation and planning if it kills me goddammit!
